Sampling density for image analysis

چکیده
We show that the convergence of measures for object size to their “true values” can be analyzed by looking at the pixels (or voxels) on the border of the object. This leads to results for a proper choice for the samplin density of the asymptotic form CV = d p = k Q ( N + l ) i g where Q is the sampling density (pixels per object “diameter”) and N is the number of spatial dimensions.

An Image Analysis-Based Methodology for Chromite Exploration through Opto-Geometric Parameters; a Case Study in Faryab Area, SE of Iran
Traditional methods of chromite exploration are mostly based on geophysical techniques and drilling operations. They are expensive and time-consuming. Furthermore, they suffer from several shortcomings such as lack of sufficient geophysical density contrast. In order to overcome these drawbacks, the current research work is carried out to introduce a novel, automatic and opto-geometric image an...
متن کاملA curvelet-based patient-specific prior for accurate multi-modal brain image rigid registration
We present a new non-uniform sampling method for the accurate estimation of mutual information in multi-modal brain image rigid registration. Most existing density estimators used for mutual information computation incorrectly assume that the intensity of each voxel is independent from its neighborhood. Our method uses the 3D Fast Discrete Curvelet Transform to reduce the sampled voxels' interd...
متن کامل3D Object Digitization: Volume and Surface Area Estimation
Measuring volume and surface area of objects given its digitizations are important problems in 3D image analysis. Good estimators should be multigrid convergent, i.e. the error goes to zero with increasing sampling density. We will give such estimators both for volume and for surface area estimation based on simple counting of voxels.
متن کاملModel-Free Power-Spectral-Density Estimation for Low-Light-Level CMOS Imaging Sensors
We report on a method to estimate the noise power spectral density (PSD) of a CMOS image sensor (CIS), without any prior analytical assumptions. The method is based on the swept time operation of the correlated double sampling (CDS) output of a low-light-level CIS. We illustrate the method’s applicability through a direct frequency domain analysis of noise contributions to the sensor performanc...
متن کاملEstimation Error in Image Quality Measurements
The development and adoption of standard image quality measurement and analysis methods have helped both the evaluation of competing imaging products and in technologies. Inherent in the interpretation of results from any particular evaluation, however, are the variation of the method itself, the sampling of test images, equipment, and test conditions. Here we take a statistical approach to mea...
